MY PRIORITIES

I’ve been traveling the district and listening and learning. Based on those conversations, here’s what I’m focused on:

CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM

Money, and the relentless pursuit of it, is at the root of the dysfunction and corruption in Washington. I refuse to accept money from PACs or federal lobbyists, and will be a loud voice for reform to reduce the influence of big money – starting with addressing the consequences of Citizens United – which is why I’ve been endorsed by End Citizens United.

HEALTH CARE FOR ALL

I believe quality, affordable health care should be a moral right of all Americans, and there is more than one path to achieve that objective. I am focused on taking immediate steps that will help reduce costs, improve care delivery and tackle the exorbitant costs of prescription drugs.

A STRONGER ECONOMY

Our economy grows and businesses expand when demand increases, and that happens when middle-income families have more money to spend. That’s why I’ll focus on tax reform that benefits middle income taxpayers without adding to the national debt, reducing the growing burden of healthcare and education expenses, and bring more of our tax dollars back home.

EQUITY AND FAMILIES

I believe everyone should be valued and hard work should be rewarded. Unfortunately, much remains to be done to ensure equal opportunities. I will push for equal pay for equal work, develop sensible family leave policies, protect a woman’s right to access healthcare, strengthen public education, and tackle disparities.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Climate change is not only an environmental threat, but an economic and national security threat as well. We owe it to future generations to take tackle this challenge head-on. We must take the partisanship out of science, rejoin the global community and become the world leader in clean and renewable energy innovation.
